Coloring, Cutting and Gluing Are Important
Do you remember the Beatles song, “I’d like to be, Under the sea
In an octopus’ garden
In the shade.” I played this song for kindergarteners. Then I asked them to create their own Octopus Garden. I was amazed how much they enjoyed the song and pretending to be under the sea. In this time when technology is everywhere, it was inspiring to see kids just cutting, gluing, and using their imagination. It is important that we don’t forget how creativity is so important for a child’s development. Just coloring a picture can open up a world of possibilities in a child’s mind. It might also release your inner child too.
