Some days, I feel like I live on an animal reserve. I am not talking about large animals, it’s a small creature petting zoo. Now, some people think these animals are cute. I was a city girl before we decided country life was our destiny. It is interesting that these animals feel safe on our property. We have birds that build their nest in our mudroom every year, in hubbies’ shoes. Squirrels that drink out of the birdbath. Skinks that chase bugs on the porch. I call one part of the property a bird sanctuary because so many different types of birds visit daily. I have to admit, I have learned to enjoy watching the small creatures, with their unique personalities. It’s also fun hearing hubby name them: Super Fudge the turtle, Chip the chipmunk, Rocky the squirrel, and Sal the skink. We even have a black cat named Meow Meow Fuzzy Face. He doesn’t like his picture taken. Years ago, if you told me I would embrace country life, I would have never believed it. Now, I enjoy sitting on the porch marveling at these creatures. As long as they don’t get too close. Never fear a change in your destiny. It can be rewarding. Enjoy the journey.
