A beaver building a dam. This was so fascinating to me. They build a dam to create a pond where they can create a beaver lodge. The pond makes a safe place where they can hopefully live safe from other animal attacks. The lodges provide a place to sleep, keep warm, and raise their babies. Most of the time, the females build the pond because they are very protective of their young. They have found beaver dams over 1,000 years old. I’m so glad hubby spotted this industrious builder.
