This is a replica of the Anointing Stone found in Jerusalem. At the Franciscan Monastery In DC, it is right next to Holy Sepulcher (the tomb where Jesus was buried). If you visit the one in Jerusalem, it is closer to the church. The stone was the place where Jesus was washed. anointed with oils and prepared for burial after his crucifixion.
