All of our friend’s call us foodies. But my husband and I don’t consider ourselves real foodies. We are just traditionally built people (took that from Alexander McCall Smith) who like good tasting food. Ok, yes we are healthy (fat) like the old people use to say.
Ours is that never ending quest to find food that taste better than our last best meal. The other thing we consider is the cost. We like to taste great food but be able to buy groceries for the next week.
I think some restaurants spend too much time on presentation, but don’t give anything but an expensive bill. Then leave hungry, looking for a cheeseburger at McDonald’s. This is why we love Fogo De Chão, it is the Brazilian way of eating. We frequent the location in Washington, DC but there are several in other regions.

At Fogo De Chao you get your choice of lots of meats delivered on skewers right to your table. Lamb, chicken, rib eye, bacon wrapped beef or chicken pork, the full Churrasco (pronounced “shoe-RHAS’ko”) experience. The Gaucho way of preparing meat.

Which is a way of cooking seasoned meats. They have at least 15 selections, so it’s endless possibilities. There is a disk at the table. Red signals you don’t want meat. Green means I want more. Act like Oliver, “Please Sir I Want Some More.” I am showing my age. Don’t pass up the Market Table with fresh fruits, vegetables, and salad (the chicken salad is amazing). Not pictured but the Crispy Pamesan Polenta Fries needs to be mentioned too.

They even have smoked salmon, oven roasted brown sugar, black and red pepper bacon, black bean stew with sausage and rice, “Feijoada.” Are you hungry yet? If you leave hungry, it’s your own fault.

If I haven’t enticed you enough just look at one of the drinks and the desserts. Trust me, the New York Cheesecake is the way to go.
If you decide to go to the Washington, DC location the service is wonderful. Then after dinner take a drive around town before heading home. The city is beautiful at night.
Like I said I am not a foodie, but I highly recommend Fogo De Chão. It is the place to go if you want to excite your taste buds. Plus, eating good food is the best way to LIVE.
