Love Sign Hopewell, Virginia

“Virginia is for Lovers” has been the slogan for the state for over 50 yeras.  It was created by David N. Martin and George Woltz. The slogan was intended to reflect the different attributes that each community has to offer like beaches, farming, movies, history and industry. There were endless possibilities.  The state is now achieving its objective with the LoveWorks signs. There are 200 signs placed in communities throughout the state.

The letters in the sign tell something unique to that region. Located in Hopewell, Virginia, in this sign the “L”represents the pilings of a pier because the city has four marinas.  The “O” is for business and agriculture. The “V” is made from metal, which was taken from a 100 year old barn. It represents the James and Appomattox Rivers coming together.  The “E” with its stars and stripes pays homage to the area’s military. So go EXPLORE some LOVE signs. Share your Favorite ones with me and will continue to share the ones I find.  Don’t forget to #LOVEVA.
